Here at Wings & Rings, we are looking to add a motivated and experienced Line Chef directly responsible for the kitchen line. As the Line Chef, you will have the opportunity to help oversee all kitchen and culinary operations, safety, quality, and sanitation functions directly under the supervision of the BOH Manager and General Manager. Serving in a non-managerial leadership position, you may be directly responsible for leading and educating the line cooks, helping ensure the aforementioned duties get successfully completed every shift.

A look into your first 60 days:
During your first 30 days, you will be responsible for learning the SOPs and methods for cooking here at our restaurant. Learning our menu front to back and how to make every item our menu, you will work through all of the stations and test on all of them. Once you have completed your training on the line, you will spend time with our prep chef, learning the basics of food preparation and raw ingredient quality assurance. Once the BOH Manager and General Manager, have felt that you have grasped the basics of the job and all the positions in the kitchen, you will begin your leadership training on the line as you phase into your leadership position.

Oversees: Line Cooks and Cook Trainees
Starting Wage: $16.50/Hr + kitchen performance bonus

Responsibilities

Line Chef Responsibilities: 
  • Complies with all portion sizes, cooking methods, and quality standards, in accordance with standardized recipes.
  • Maintaining communication with the kitchen expeditor and floor manager to keep the kitchen running efficiently and getting plates out at the same time.
  • Maintains responsibility and communication with teams of 2 to 6 kitchen members throughout the shift, ensuring line cooks work efficiently.
  • Helping with the education of new cook trainees and assumes responsibility of helping his/her line cooks with corrective actions.
  • Works with the management group and Prep Chef to maintain a clean and safe environment.
  • Assumes 100% responsibility for quality of all products served. 
  • Follows proper plate presentation with appropriate garnish for all dishes. 
  • Sets up the cook line with foods, condiments, and garnishments at the start of each shift and restocks as needed. 
  • Maintains sanitary workstation including tables, shelves, grills, broilers, fryers, and refrigeration equipment. 
  • Handles, stores, and rotates all products properly. 
  • Closes the kitchen properly and follows the closing checklist for kitchen stations. Assist others in closing the kitchen. 
  • Performs other related duties as assigned by the BOH Manager. 
  • Demonstrates positive interpersonal skills with co-workers.
  • Functions as a supportive team member during the course of their shift. 
  • Position requires regular, reliable attendance. 

Skills & Qualifications

Line Chef Qualifications: 
  • Work experience in high volume or casual dining restaurant environment required
  • Requires food preparation skills and knowledge of HACCP standards
  • Requires 5+ years in the restaurant industry
  • Requires 1+ years in a leadership or managerial position
  • Requires the ability to speak, read and comprehend instructions, short correspondence and policy documents, as well as converse comfortably with customers
  • Requires the ability to lift and/or move up to 40 pounds 
  • Requires the ability to bend, twist, and stand to perform normal job functions 
  • Frequently immerses hands in water and water diluted with chemical solutions 
  • Frequently works with sharp knives, utensils, and hot plates 
  • Frequently works in hot environment 
  • Willingness to get ServSafe certified in the future
